The Struggle
In Urban communities, having a dream is the only reality that many could have. The thought of becoming a successful hip hop artist in Los Angeles, California was the idea of success for so many, for far too long.
The idea that becoming a music artist has taken the world by the horns and overturned the thoughts of completing education such as high school and college. The norm is to drop out and indulged in criminal activities to just survive for some and other to fit in.
Based on all the uncensored content displayed in urban music. What other options are there to provide motivation for anything other than what flashes on the television?
I can name one option off top. While mainstream rap music remains segregated and one tracked, El Casino’s music saturates the mind with topics of our everyday realities. Even oppressed people can receive musical relief from his music.
Although Hip Hop seems to be evolving into a multitudes of sub genres, lets continue to support the legends who pave the way for use genre to exist in the first place. Based in South Bronx, NY in the late 1970s, Hip Hop was born. Over 4 decades later in Norwalk, California is a Latino Artist, El Casino’s with a new single called, “If You Know You Know”.
Doesn’t matter where you come from or nationally is. You can be an important piece of musical history, just like all the musical historians including El Casino by steaming his music and spreading awareness about his music.
